The Innocence of Consumption
2016-2025
This series of overexposed and hyper-stylised portraits explores the tension between innocence and the commercialisation of religious holidays, exaggerating the hysteria that is often behind it. The images, distorted through heavy Photoshop manipulation, reflect the artificial nature of modern celebrations, where the tradition is overshadowed by corporate agendas creating new norms and expectations. The children reflect innocence and joy, shaped, packaged and sold, in a world of overstimulation and manufactured joy.
